"I'll do it myself"

Little Miss Mia decided that tonight was the end of mommy feeding her and the beginning of many days in which she will boldy proclaim, "I do it myself"...and for those that know Mia personally we know that this is just the beginning!!
At dinner tonight after a couple spoonfulls of chicken and applesauce Mia decided that she no longer wanted Mommy to feed her, she grabbed the spoon and scooped up her own applesauce and fed herself. When mommy tried to help her she very loudly (in her own language) told mommy NO!!!

"Oh Christmas Tree..."

Friday evening kicked off the celebration of this Christmas Season!!
Mia and Jacob got to watch the lighting of the Christmas Tree at Fashion Island in Newport Beach. This tree is the largest real life Christmas Tree in the U.S. You can literally smell it from the parking lot! The kids got all bundled up in their reindeer fleece body jackets and mittens. We met Daddy after work and had so much fun participating in the festivities!!
Our calendar is packed with exciting outings this Christmas Season. We are so blessed to be able to see Christmas through the eyes of Jacob and Mia. The lights seem to shine a little brighter, the trees smell a little fresher and most of all the GLORY of Christ's birth is a little more personal this year.
Every year we celebrate the seasons real meaning, Jesus Christ our Savior was born!! We reflect on the celebration of His birth, the miracle of His life and the sacrifice of His death. This year however we are more humbled by His goodness, in awe of the miracle of life and in gratitude that we could know what it means to be a parent and to share in the power of loving your child more than you thought you could love. I dont think there is a love more powerful then that of loving your child. It surpasses everything I have ever experienced and is taking our walk with the Lord to new heights. The first time I was able to look into Mia and Jacob's eyes a different kind of love was poured out from the heavens flooding every area of my soul. A love that only the Father could give, a love that not only bonds us to our children but draws us closer to God. He gave his only son to be born on earth as a living sacrifice for our sin so that we could spend eternity with Him. We stand in awe of this love and celebrate this season as new parents, thankful for His gift to us.

Sunday Mornings.....

What can I say...We LOVE Sunday Mornings!! Now that I work on Saturday mornings we value our Sunday mornings as a family so much. This is the one morning of the week that we can all wake up and enjoy family time and then head off to church. Its such a special time for us!! Even better when it is followed by a date night the previous evening when Grandma and Grandpa babysit the kids for us :)
Jacob and Mia wake up full of smiles, ready to start the day. John gets up with them at 6:30am has some special Daddy time and then gets Mommy up at 7am so we can walk across the street to Mommy & Daddy's favorite Starbucks and Mia and Jacob's favorite water fountain!

A party at Lolo & Lola's

Last week Johns parents had a big party for Jacob and Mia at their house. In the Filippino culture they always have a big "coming out" party for new babies and since ours were premature we waited a little longer. Jacob and Mia played with all their new "aunties" and "uncles". Lolo (Tagolog for Grandpa) and Lola (Tagolog for Grandma) had so much fun with them. Mia even tried her little tastebuds out on some Filippino dishes. Jacob tried them and spit them out...well he spits everything out so its nothing against the new tasty dishes!
Grandma and Grandpa came to the party too!

Playtime with Jacob and Mia!

Our new favorite past time is playing at home. We LOVE toys and Jacob loves his new found freedom. We are everywhere!!! Mia has so much fun in her exersaucer and jumperoo and Jacob we are finding loves to be next to his BIG sister. If Mia is in the exersaucer than Jacob is playing standing up right next to her and if Mia is jumping in her jumperoo than Jacob is hanging on and jumping next to her too, without any safety nets around him I might add...Daddy thinks Jacob needs a helmet like yesterday!
Yesterday while I was upstairs getting some laundry I heard the best sound any mommy can hear....laughter...pure outrageous giggles coming from Mia. I peeked around the corner from the stairs and saw Jacob throwing tupperware on the living room floor, Mia thought this was hilarious and was in stitches!!!
