more BIG news!!!

On Saturday afternoon Jacob decided he wasnt going to sit back and watch his big sister bask in all her glory, so he took his first steps!!!! Once again the contrast of their polar opposite personalities shines through even in their first steps, Mia laughs and gets so excited while she is walking, although it looks more like running! Jacob on the other hand is so determined, watching each foot move a little bit forward and then the next one moves a little forward, not even cracking a smile for mommy and daddy. So similar and so different, we love it!

I've been tagged....6 words....

Jesus
Wife
Mommy
Daughter
Son
Nurse

it's harder than you think to write 6 words about yourself. so, i tried to think of 6words that if i was gone, people might remember about me. with that said, i am going to tag 5 people (as per mark's instruction) to write their own memoir.

Sarah
Mary
Cassandra
Lisa
April

the instructions are to write your own six word memoir.

post it on your blog, including an illustration if you’d like.

link to the person that tagged you in your post and to the original post if possible so that it can be tracked as it travels across the blogosphere.

tag at least five more blogs with links.

leave a comment on the tagged blogs with an invitation to play.

so go for it girls, it should be fun!

BIG NEWS!!!

Our sweet Mia took her first steps today!!! If you remember Mia was our sweetheart that did all of her milestones at 10 months...rolling over, sitting up, pulling to stand, cruising. As of Saturday while we were playing on the floor she just decided to stand up, John and I were beyond excited and cheered her on. Since Saturday she has wanted to nothing else but stand up all by herself with no assistance and then came her first steps!!! So far we have made it up to 6 steps and then we get tired and lose our balance. Jacob is carefully watching his BIG sister accomplish this milestone and I'm sure wont be far behind her. We are so proud!!!

Field of Flowers!!

On Tuesday we spent the day with Nana and Grandpa in Carlsbad, San Diego. The ranunculas are in full bloom for a mile, the sight is breathtaking!!

Easter!!

Here are some pics of our Easter!!! We are known by many friends as "The Easters" since Pascua in spanish is Easter...so we always enjoy this special day of celebrating the resurrection of our savior and our friends are thrilled to call out "The Easter's are here!!" when we get to church :)

Saturday we celebrated Easter with Johns family and on Sunday we celebrated Easter with my family after church. It was in the 80's and absolutely beautiful!! Perfect for the beginning of spring and many BBQ's to come!

Lounging in our chairs

Another milestone this week is that they have both decided they love to lounge in their chairs and watch a whole program. When we first got their Pottery Barn Chairs they just crawled on them and crawled off, but now they are relaxing in them. They look so big to us now, where have our babies gone??

I'm the BIG sister!!

Mia's favorite thing to do right now is to push Jacob around on his winnie the pooh ride-on. He will climb on onto it and she LOVES to push him around the house. They break out into hysterics when they run into furniture, walls, cabinets or Madison if she happens to be snoozing on the floor.

Our FAVORITE toy....for the moment!

We have had our play kitchen since Christmas but the last couple weeks Mia and Jacob can't wait to get downstairs and will literally play with it all day long. I love watching them play with each other, turning on the faucet together, turning the light switch on and off and then laughing because the light actually goes on and off and then opening the oven door and sticking anything from their toy box that will fit in there. They are so fun!!

It was daylight savings too, so not only were we playing outside in our swimmies we got to play outside longer!! Mia and Jacob got their new swimmies in from Old Navy this week so we decided to try them out :)

Swing, Slide, Climb and oh yeah we eat Sand!!

Fun times at the park this week. Now that we are very independent we love to go to the park. Jacob has turned into my little climber, up the jungle gym, up the slide, up the stairs at home...anything he can climb on fascinates him!! Mia loved to put her piggly wigglies in the warm sand...and then we ate the sand!! Anyone who is around Mia now-a-days, knows she will eat "anything"!!!

yes that is sand that we just put in her mouth....and she seemed to like it!

Mommy & Daddy's perfect blend.......

We found these shirts at our winery on our first night away. They were too cute to pass up!!
For the record John and I seem to think that sweet Mia is definitely the perfect blend of both of us, so far! Jacob's personality seems to resemble both of our brothers...laid back, easy going maybe even a little sensitive. We love that about him, he just goes with the flow and always, always smiles, not just a little smile but full showing all my teeth smile! and then we have our "perfect blend" of John and I all in one sweet little fiesty fire cracking package...Mia :) Mia is fiesty, miss independent, spirited and STUBBORN!! Yes our sweet little Mia inherited all of mommy and daddy's best traits. If we could have given a little to each one it probably would have worked out a little better but Mia got it all. She is going to be the ring leader and has already proven that to her brother. When Jacob is tired or having a very sensitive day and he sees her coming and he is playing with a toy he will just lay it down and start crying...because he knows she is going to come and take it away from him. More often then not they love playing with each other, sharing toys, chasing each other around the kithcen island and through the tunnel. They really are each others best friends but when he is not up to it..Mia can bully him :) My heart is tender toward him but on the other hand I want to laugh because I see so much of John and I in Mia. Still to this day she fights us on whatever she wants to do not what we want her to do. Tonight over dinner we were laughing after they were in bed because we have to remind Mia you are not in charge and then John said sometimes she really is in charge!! I think Mia is our Cabernet and Jacob could be a light Pinot Grigio!!

Fun times at the Zoo!!

Its been beautiful and sunny so we made our way to our local zoo. I LOVE this zoo because its so quaint and perfect for toddlers. We can literally stroll around the entire zoo and have lunch in the park all in about an hour, which is perfect for entertaining between our morning nap and afternoon nap. The last time we were there was over 6 months ago, what a difference!! Now they see the monkeys, lamas and birds, pointing and laughing the whole time. I just love watching them watch the animals. I'm experiencing the awe and wonder of all of natures creatures again through their eyes!
