As soon as I started the washer this morning, Jacob decided it was as good as time as any to start the day off with a little rhythm!!

Family Reunion 2008

You don't choose your family. They are God's gift to you, as you are to them. ~Desmond Tutu

Saturday, June 14th, 2008 Benson/Bush Family Reunion
My mom is the youngest of 7 babies born to an amazing woman, my Grandmother Stella Marie Bush. She was an amazing Godly woman, a pioneer of sorts...if you consider that she raised her self as a child (her mother died shortly after giving birth to her) going on to being married and having 5 kids and then having your husband suddenly pass away at the dinner table, marrying again and having 2 more babies and then being left alone yet again to finish the raising of her 7 children. She moved her entire family from Illinois to California in 1963. She was blessed to see all 7 of her children marry and go on to give her 7 granddaughters and 7 grandsons and we are currently on 19 great grandchildren (just for fun thats 12 girls and 7 boys!) Some of her favorite things were being with her family in her very small house, at every family gathering it seemed to be busting at the seams with kids crawling everywhere... all over her property, chasing rabbits, picking rasberries or climbing on old trucks. She loved the Lord, her bible was always out ready for reading,
Sunday morning church was not an option and yes we walked... and of course the great lunches after church. Her legacy continues and we still enjoy getting together to talk about old times and new adventures!

Daddy & Daughter....

I was snapping away while John and Mia were playing at our town center and couldnt help but notice the resemblance in their walk, notice their footsteps and how they walk with their arms!! so cute!! Most would say that Jacob is a "little John" but if you really saw Johns childhood pictures Mia looks much more like John than Jacob does........(jacob looks just like Johns brothers)

Happy Daddys Day!

i know, i know, i know...it will be a week tomorrow but with two toddlers running around all day all I want to do is drop into bed as soon as they go to bed. So every evening it usually comes down to blogging vs bed...and bed usually wins!!

When John and I first met we knew we wanted a family, we couldnt wait to hear the patter of little feet scampering around every day, laughter, giggles and new discoveries that only a baby can bring. We never anticipated a year later that our journey to have a baby would prove to be difficult. It only made the yearning to hear midnight cries, stinky diapers, tantrum throwing fits and sticky everything more desired. So as John celebrated his 2nd "Daddys Day" we feel so blessed. We never could have imagined the scampering of 4 feet at the same time, screaming x 2, tantrum throwing, stealing toys and so on such a blessing...and through it all there are twice the hugs, twice the kisses, twice the sweet calling of "daddddddddddy" and then giggling.....we are blessed! and Mia and Jacob are so richly blessed to have such a devoted, caring, compassionate daddy that strives everyday to teach them more and more about the God He loves.

Party, Party, Party

Over Memorial Day weekend John and my parents had a surprise party for me at my parents. My parents always have a memorial day BBQ so I wasnt expecting anything different then the usual group...SURPRISE it was a whole birthday party for me. It was so great, we had so much fun celebrating and everyone got to see the kids too!

Yesterday I took the day off of work to spend my first day in my "30's" with the kids. We loaded up in the car and headed off to the LA Zoo.

The BIG 3-0!!

I can't believe I turned 30 today, it seems so surreal. I anticipated that it would be like any other birthday, another joyful day praising God for all the blessings around me. I always thought it was so silly when I heard people say that "this year was a rough one..intending the actual number. So silly...........and then I turned 30!!! Why is this one so hard to swallow? Its more of a melancholy emotion I guess, its so hard to put into words. I'm thrilled to celebrate my 30th birthday with two of the most precious babies around, a wonderful husband and incredible family and friends, I am rich in love and friendship... and yet "30" is still hard to swallow. Oh well I'm assuming that this feeling will work itself out...maybe over the weekend at a resort sipping some martinis, tanning and going to the spa with my hubby..that should do it!!!

rice therapy

Jacobs therapists have recommended for the last couple months to have some play time with rice, pinto beans or pasta. We still think he has some food texture aversions so enjoying some time with Mommy and Mia playing in food is good for him. Well since he's half asian and his daddy is looking forward to the day that they can share some rice at every meal...we started with rice!!!

Photobucket
first notice who enjoyed playing in the rice first!

Jacob jumped right into the fun!!
