Team - Up

On Friday was our Managers team-building event. I was under the impression from a previous meeting that we were going bowling, we had discussed going to one of the upscale bowling alleys that actually serves you 5-star restaurant worthy meal while your bowling. So I was ecstatic.....
1. I really like bowling
2. An afternoon with good friends and peers and no toddlers running around
3. Good Food and no food throwing....enough said :)

So we get to our restaurant of choice and I'm thinking I thought we were eating while we bowl...oh well its food and no toddlers to be concerned about so I just went with the flow...until I asked in the middle of lunch..is everyone excited to bowl?....because I'm pumped!!! Thats when everyone and I mean everyone at our table started cracking up...and thats when I found out plans had been changed we were doing an actual "Team Building" event that no one really knew what was involved...Surprise!! I love surprises...no big deal.....that is until we got to our destination at the UCI Athletic field and I realized our Team Building was going to take place 3 stories above ground. News Flash..............I hate even little bridges while I'm in the car that go over riverbeds.....I HATE heights. I was told I would conquer my fear today......

Here is the entire course. 3 1/2 hours, 3 stories up...the whole way...

These are our before and after pictures. In the second photo you will notice were all walking together in a pyramid form. They specifically asked us not to hold onto the very rope that was sustaining us in the air 3 stories high (what?!?!) Since I didnt want to be on the front lines I'm behind my sweet co-worker in the yellow shirt.

..and the only way down. Yep sit on the edge and just jump off...its that easy. It was awful...but I did it just to get my feet back on the ground....and really because I had no other choice :)

So did I conquer my fear of heights? Nope, Nada, will never do it again! However I am a team player and I will persevere for my team!!....and my boss promised me a spa team building event next time...now thats more my style :)

I think I would rather go to the spa event rather than being suspened three stories high as well!! But then again I go on CA screamin at CA Adventure, but I think the comfort of knowing your feet are on a stable platform makes it a little easier!! But hey, you took a step a faith and you did it!!
